Round 1
Taking Clomid was a roller coaster for me. At first, I was excited to start the journey, but I was also anxious about the potential side effects. I had read and watched a lot of videos trying to get an understanding of what to expect.
I was diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis at the age of 19. I knew early on; I was going to have difficulty conceiving.
Due to the PCOS and endometriosis, it caused me to not have a period for 4 years.
My doctor prescribed me Provera to stimulate a period, which I took for 10 days and then 2 days later I started. It was awful, I'm not gonna lie. It was a long 9 days!
I took Clomid on Cycle Day 5-9.
Dosage: 50mg
Symptoms taking clomid
Hot flashes
Dizziness
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Increased appetite.
Crazy energy- like I didn't sleep well for 5 days (on a brighter note, my house was rearranged and deep cleaned)
After taking Clomid, I was able to ovulate on Cycle Day 23 that round.
If you are checking for CM (Cervical Mucus) you want to see like egg white consistency. This usually means your entering your ovulation window.
TWW symptoms:
Sore Boobs
Nausea
High Sex drive
Cravings
Bloating
Constipation
Fatigue
Backache
Cramping that started 8DPO
Cloudy CM
Despite the physical challenges, the most difficult part for me was that I did not ovulate strongly enough according to my progesterone test. The 21-day test as many of us know it by. My doctor told me that he really likes to see my progesterone above a level 10. It was only at 1.5 during my 21-day test, however that was not accurate because we later realized that I ovulate later, which was CD 23.
You want to test 7 days after ovulation for accuracy.
So honestly, I feel like my Round 1, was more of a practice test. I was testing multiple times a day, keeping a book and records. I realized that I was stressing myself out. I also realized that if you're using the pre-mom app, you want to see 1.0 or higher to peak. Thats what my doctor told me. He said it's very rare for it to be lower than that. My LH peak on round 1 was 1.36.
One of the hardest things for me that round was trying to figure out when to BD (Baby Dance). After talking to the doctor and hundreds of people in my TTC community, I found the best times to baby dance. If you are questioning when to baby dance as well, you can find that information here.
With that being said, I read an article that was talking about taking clomid and letrozole together. Yes combined! So that's what I did. My round 2, I took them combined.
Here we go! ROUND 2!!!
Finding your LH surge (or peak) is one thing. But do you know when it's time to have intercourse?
That was the question I had my first round. I didn't want to miss it!
